About Chandigarh Street Rush
A free browser racing game about the most under-rated vehicle on Indian roads — and about Chandigarh, which is a stranger place to race through than any circuit anyone could invent.
The idea
Racing games are full of supercars. Very few of them are about the vehicle most people in India actually travel in. Chandigarh Street Rush puts eight auto-rickshaws on a start grid and takes them around a stylised lap of Chandigarh: the glass towers of Sector 17 Plaza, the Rapid Metro and Yellow Line stations, a flyover you get properly airborne over if you are brave, and the narrow, cluttered run through old Sector 22 Market.
It is meant to be funny before it is meant to be serious. The autos have slogans painted on the back, the horn is mapped to its own key because of course it is, and winning gets you called Chandigarh ka asli Auto Raja. Underneath, though, the handling is real: three wheels, a high centre of gravity, and a back end that will step out if you ask it to brake and turn at the same time.
What's in it
- A full race against seven CPU rivals, on Easy, Normal or Hard.
- Eight autos to unlock, each with fifteen upgrade levels.
- Sunset and night, clear and wet — four quite different-feeling races.
- Online races for up to eight friends, joined with a four-digit PIN. No account, no install, works across phones and laptops.
- A points economy, win streaks and a daily bonus.
How it's built
Chandigarh Street Rush is a web game, written in JavaScript and rendered with Three.js on WebGL2. There is no engine licence, no plugin and no download: the whole thing is a page. The city, the crowd and the traffic are generated at load time rather than shipped as a huge asset bundle, which is why it starts in a few seconds on a normal connection.
Online races run through a small Python relay server. It keeps rooms in memory only — no database, no accounts — and forgets a room entirely once the last player leaves.
It is built to run on a mid-range phone as well as a desktop, so it adapts its own detail level and switches to touch controls automatically.
Where you can play it
Chandigarh Street Rush is designed to run directly in modern mobile and desktop web browsers with WebGL2 support. No app store installation or download is required.
